Boron is an ultra trace element which occurs in all foods produced from plants. It is thought that boron plays several biochemical roles for humans including cell membrane function, such that it influences the response to hormone action, transmembrane signalling or transmembrane movement, hence its association with supporting postmenopausal health of women.

Dietary sources of Boron include non-citrus fruits, leafy vegetables nuts pulses and legumes.
